Don’t just watch the Geysers at Middle and Lower Basins erupt. Bath in their runoff and minerals in the Firehole River. Use goggles to look for gold. After, “add on” our “Learn to Kayak Adventure” and paddle where the Madison River, now joined by the Firehole’s geyser water and all, pools to form Lake Hebgen.
The Madison watershed is home to Old Faithful and the Grand Prismatic. Their warm and mineral rich waters drain into the Firehole River while Fairy Falls cascades hundreds of feet to join them. Swim in the Firehole! Soon the Firehole merges with the Gibbon River, after having run over its own spectacular Gibbon Falls. These two tributaries now form the Madison River of Lewis and Clark fame. Together they pool to form Lake Hebgen just outside the park.
