Root and Flow 480 feet above the floor.

In the last ice age that predated even indigenous people’s arrival to North America, the great weight of a glacier was leaving its impression in the future park. This ice eventually melting, its runoff likely cut the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. It also formed the Yellowstone River watershed on its way out, the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48 states. The indention that remains continuously fills with rocky mountain waters, and is indeed slowly pushing back out.

With the stunning backdrop of the Absorkee mountain range, this is the magical Yellowstone Lake. 480 feet at its deepest, it also contains underwater geyser features so that some can only be see from a stand up paddle board or boat.
